On August 30, 1883, at the age of 38, Angela Peralta passed away while staying at the Hotel Iturbide in Mazatlán. On her deathbed, she tied the knot with her longtime beau Julián Montiel y Duarte.She was already unresponsive when the wedding ceremony took place, according to the testimony of a witness who was present at the event. Lemus, one of the vocalists in her group, held her up by the shoulders. Lemus made a motion with her head to give the impression that she was nodding her head in agreement when she was asked whether she had taken Montiel y Duarte as her husband. Her corpse was displayed in state, for a period of time prior to being buried in Mazatlán. During this time she was was adorned with one of her opera costumes and her finest jewelry.
